What We Believe
The Reformed Church in the United States confesses the faith of the Lord Jesus by means of the famous Three Forms of Unity: the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dordt. There is no attempt to try to be minimalist in our confession, but rather to confess the faith fully.
As compared to liberalism, we are conservative. We are evangelical as over against sacerdotalism. We are creedal, believing that the ideas of the Bible can be and must be confessed in words by the church. There is one faith of the church, expressed in the Apostles’ Creed and other creedal instruments. We are creationists, affirming the historicism of the six days of creation in Genesis 1-3. We reject evolution in all its forms. We believe in male headship and dignity in worship, for we emphasize that God is the focus of our worship, not entertainment or the pleasure of the worshippers.
